Partel: Designing the “Perfect Wall”
The new episode of Partel’s Tech Knowledge Series brings technical insights on key layers for achieving a durable wall assembly.
Construction evolved, and energy-efficient buildings now require proper sequencing to control the inside from the outside. Hugh Whiriskey, Technical Director of Partel, approaches the critical roles and properties of the four essential control layers: rain, air, vapor, and thermal layer.
This video demonstrates how EXOPERM MONO DURO and VARA PLUS systems can improve the air and wind tightness, durability, comfort, and thermal performance in any type of building.

Scandia Hus: Sussex-Style Scandia
Scandia-Hus worked alongside self-build customers, to negotiate the hurdles and achieve planning permission for this traditional style new home. The exterior reflects the local vernacular architecture, with hung clay tiles cladding the first floor and brick encompassing the ground floor, whilst inside there is a contemporary open plan space.
A key benefit of a timber frame home is the speed of construction. The shell, having been precision-made in the factory, was erected quickly and made watertight within a matter of weeks.

NARM: Check for the tick symbol!
For the safety in your home, NARM, the National Association of Rooflight Manufacturers, advises that inner panes on all glass rooflights must be laminated glass.
Always check this with your supplier, as NARM has been made aware that some rooflights are being supplied with toughened glass inner panes: a potential danger.
The term ‘toughened’ implies a degree of safety which in the case of rooflights, is misleading – as toughened glass can shatter, putting those beneath a rooflight at risk.
