“The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) are the leading conservation charity solely dedicated to the conservation of bats and the landscapes on which they rely, one of which is the built environment.

Bats are unique and play a vital role in our environment but during the last century bat populations suffered severe declines. BCT are working to secure the future of bats in our ever changing world by tackling the threats to bats, from persecution to loss of roosts and changing land use. Bats are fully protected by law and in the UK some species may already be benefiting from the positive effects of conservation, but we have a long way to go to achieve our vision of a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.

The BCT’s Built Environment project recognises the specific challenges and opportunities this sector presents to bats and those that live and work there. At the NSBRC we can be found at stand 190 for advice and support for self-builders and renovators, including advice on bat boxes through our Roost Partnership:

The Built Environment Manager also runs ‘Bats for Building Professionals’ training at the NSBRC and online, for full details and to book please visit:
