The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) are the leading NGO solely devoted to the conservation of bats and the landscapes on which they rely.

Bats are unique and play a vital role in our environment but during the last century bat populations suffered severe declines. We are working to secure the future of bats in our ever changing world by tackling the threats to bats, from persecution to loss of roosts and changing land use. Bats are now protected by law in Europe, and in the UK some species may already be benefiting from the positive effects of conservation, but we have a long way to go to achieve our vision of a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.

In 2007 the BCT launched the Bats in the Built Environment project, recognising the specific challenges and opportunities this sector presents to bats and those that live and work there. At the NSBRC Shows we can be found at stand 190 for advice and support for self-builders and renovators and the Built Environment Officer also runs ‘Bats for Building Professionals’ training at the NSBRC, for full details and to book please visit: http://www.bats.org.uk/pages/bats_for_building_professionals.html
