The Bat Conservation Trust - Jo Ferguson
What My Company Does
The Bat Conservation Trust is the only charity in the UK solely dedicated to the conservation of bats and the landscape in which they live. Our vision is a world where bats and people live in harmony. We aim to achieve this through a number of projects, such as the built environment project, that engages with industry and looks to bridge knowledge gaps and give best practice advice or works with key stakeholders to develop it.
What will I be doing at the October Show
The Bat Conservation Trust will be on site to offer practical advice regarding protecting bats during your renovation or self-build project and barcodes on our stand to lots of useful information, such as advice on bats boxes or bats in buildings, so please do come and see us at stand 190!
Why should people visit the Show?
The NSBRC Self-Build and Renovation Show is an excellent opportunity to hear from and speak to a huge variety of organisations and companies involved in the self-build and renovation community all in one place. It is a friendly, welcoming space to ask any questions and gather lots of useful contacts whether you are starting on site or just speculating about taking this exciting leap!
A few Interesting Facts about my company
There are 18 species of bat that have been recorded in the UK (technically that’s a bat fact but I’m claiming it!)
We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2016!
Every year we get around 15,000 calls to our free National Bat Helpline (0345 1300 228) that gives advice to householders and those in the development industry about a range of issues from finding an injured bat to information on the planning process.
We run training courses at the NSBRC on ‘Bats for Building Professionals’ educating anybody whose job may bring them into contact with bats about their legal responsibilities and how they can plan work to avoid impacting bats: http://www.bats.org.uk/pages/bats_for_building_professionals.html
The UK'S only permanent venue for independent Advice & Support.
