Booking numbers are up over 30% on this time last year and we are looking forward to a fantastic event.
There’s a special buzz around the centre in the build-up, and during, our three shows. The team here work exceptionally hard to put on fantastic events and we are fortunate to have the most brilliant exhibitors and experts, all keen to relay their advice and information. My favourite thing about any show is without doubt meeting our visitors and hearing about your projects. I love understanding what inspired you to consider a self build, the main objectives you want to achieve and particular challenges you are facing. If, after a day at the NSBRC, you have been able to answer some of the questions you arrived with then we will have done our job!
There is a great programme of talks, demos and case studies – no matter what type of project you are tackling and how experienced you may or not be - and I am proud of the wide range of experts & products we have under one big roof. It is hard to pick a few highlights but, here are my top tips on getting the most from your visit:
1. Visit the Tricks of the Trade Theatre. We are really pleased to bring this Theatre, run by the team from DIY Doctor, to the NSBRC for the first time. What’s great about these talks is they cover practical jobs, relevant to both new builds and renovations, that, with a bit of knowledge, you can take on yourself. There are a number of subjects covered including Plastering, Domestic Electrics, Wallpapering (with our exhibitor Fardis), and dealing with Trades.
The talks are at various times each day.
2. Don’t be shy! I am lucky to know many of the experts and exhibitors at the NSBRC, and I have to say, never a more friendly and helpful group will you meet! Do take advantage of their combined experience and knowledge. Of course, everyone will have a product or service that might be just right for your project, but equally it might not. You won’t find anyone giving you ‘the hard sell’ here. What you will find is friendly and honest advice and support. So, don’t be shy, book sessions with our experts and chat to the exhibitors on their stands – and don’t forget to bring any plans and drawings.
3. Save £25 on our range of courses! Our marketing team won’t like me saying this, but if you are thinking about booking on of our courses, wait until the show – we’re offering £25 off each course! We have our popular (and comprehensive) 3 day Self Build Course plus our 2 one day courses on Project Management and Heating Your Home. The Course desk will be in our main reception each day and Deanah & Sharron can tell you more. If you are unsure if they’re right for you we are offering free course taster sessions each day (various times) in the Build It Theatre.
4. If you’ve never done one of our Guided Educational Tours then book on arrival! We offer tours of both our New Build Journey and Renovation House, where an experienced expert takes you through the various stages of a project. The tours last about an hour and are brilliant. The tours must be booked at the main Booking Desk – we have put on extra tours for this show but they will be popular - so arrive early to ensure you don’t miss out!
