Make your dream home a reality with The National Self Build & Renovation Centre.
The NSBRC are pleased to offer 5 free half-day online surgeries for anyone thinking of self building or renovating their home. Each surgery can be individually booked, and you can attend as many as are useful for your project.
These 3 hour sessions will all include a number of informative presentations and a facilitated ‘Question Time’ panel session – allowing you to get your questions discussed and answered in our informal and friendly open forum.
Every home has them, so it will be no surprise that doors and windows are among the most sought-after category of products in the NSBRC. They are not an impulse purchase and can represent a large proportion of your total budget. However with many different types of openings, materials and styles to consider, along with local planning restrictions, knowing how to make the right choice for your project is not always easy. This surgery will help you make an informed decision, exploring the benefits of each option along with key maintenance, sustainability and cost considerations, with a selection of experienced exhibiting partners and an impartial representative from the NSBRC.
This is a ‘must-attend’ session for anyone considering, or at the early stages of a homebuilding project as we cover three of the key topics you will want to know about: Design, Planning and Funding your project.
The Surgery is aimed at anyone thinking about a new build, extension or renovation who are unfamiliar with the planning process. From Demystifying the Planning System, exploring the latest finance and mortgage solutions, avoiding common design mistakes and our expert presenters will help you on the pathway to achieving a beautifully-designed, well-built, efficient home.
We’ll be discussing some of the latest heating options available to all self-builders and home improvers, to ensure you have a modern, efficient heating solution, now and in the future. Exploring modern heating options, the surgery will also feature a presentation on tackling problems caused by hard water, which can directly affect your chosen systems, along with an update on the latest government incentives.
Aimed at people in the early stages of a project, who have yet to decide what building method they are using, but want to achieve a sustainable home – Our experts will discuss options to allow you to play your part in reducing both the impact of your new home on the planet and your energy consumption (and bills!)
Once the main structure is completed the last stage of the build is traditionally called the finish or second fix, you’ll have a huge choice of methods to complete the look and feel of your house. The internal finish will give the impression, not only of your personal taste and preferences, but also the feeling of the quality of the build. From wall finishes, architraves and mouldings, floor coverings, doors and stairs a huge amount of thought will be given to the design, materials used and layout in the early part of any design project. This friendly session will introduce you to just a few of your options and give you some excellent ideas on how to choose the best solutions for your home.
