We are proud to share our second Annual Sustainability Report, as part of our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and ethical business practice - or as we like to call it: Better Sustainable Business.

Notably, this report marks a key milestone of a 25% reduction in emissions over the past four years, saving 141 tonnes of CO₂ to date.

Beyond using our platform to help over almost 300,000 visitors create Better Sustainable Homes since we opened our doors in 2007, we recognise that running our business has its own impact on the world around us. It's a cornerstone of our Employee Owned ethos that we are committed to seeking out ethical and sustainable practices, which contribute to the wellbeing of our planet, our community and our industry.

📉🎯We've reduced emissions by 25% over the past four years. This equates to a saving of 141 tonnes of CO₂ to during that period.

💡♨️ The most significant improvements during this period, are a 35% reduction of emissions from our Electricity usage and 19% from Gas - as well as using 44% less water in 2025/26 than we were four years ago.

♻️ We've improved waste management, reducing our impact by 19% over the past two years.

⚡🚘 Sustainable travel is on the rise too. Electric vehicles now make up 53% of our team’s mileage, supported by our salary sacrifice scheme and on-site EV charging facilities that make low-emission travel more accessible to staff, partners and visitors.

Further cementing our values-driven approach, The NSBRC became B Corporation Certified and Good Business Charter Accredited in 2025, in recognition of the Centre’s high standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. We are also extremely proud to have been named Sustainable Business of the Year at The Business Exchange Awards, 2025!

Tackling homelessness in Swindon

The England squad may not have quite managed to bring football home this summer, but that didn’t stop the National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC) from getting in the World Cup spirit. The home building visitor centre used the opportunity to raise £1,340 for Threshold, a local charity working to end homelessness in Swindon.
