Meet our Employee Owner of the Year - Neil

We are delighted to announce that Neil Davey has been named our Employee Owner of the Year 2026!

The award was presented in front of the team during our recent Employee Ownership (EO) Day celebrations. The day featured an exhilarating e-karting Grand Prix in Reading, with plenty of laughs, and the opportunity to spend quality time together away from our usual day-to-day roles.

From impressive overtaking manoeuvres to some determined cornering (and perhaps the odd bump along the way!), the racing proved to be fiercely competitive - and thoroughly entertaining. While there’s been a few sore arms reported the following day, it was a fantastic success and a wonderful reminder of the strong team spirit within our employee-owned business. A big ‘thank you’ goes to Katy (our EO Rep) for the hard work and organisation that made the day run smoothly!

A Well-Deserved Recognition

Neil has been part of the NSBRC family for many years and has become a familiar and trusted figure amongst our visitors and a valued member of the team.

With an engineering background and extensive experience across the construction industry, Neil has built an impressive career spanning design, manufacture, project management and installation of architectural metalwork. He later spent 17 years running his own successful architectural design business, specialising in extensions and new-build homes. As a self-builder himself, he has also designed and built three homes for his own use, giving him invaluable first-hand experience of the challenges and rewards of creating a home from the ground up.

Over the past 20 years, Neil has been a cornerstone of the NSBRC Helpdesk team, sharing his wealth of knowledge and expertise with visitors seeking guidance on their projects. Although now working on a part-time basis, he continues to provide invaluable advice and can often be found representing the NSBRC at external events, accompanied by his wife, Sue. He is also quick to roll up his sleeves whenever maintenance is required around the Centre, going above and beyond to help keep the building looking its very best and running smoothly.

Congratulations, Neil, on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for everything you continue to contribute to the NSBRC!

One of my fondest memories at the NSBRC was being stood on stage with Neil, in 2017, as we won Wiltshire Small Business of the Year. Not only was it the first award we had ever won, but it represented all the hard work we had put into our employee-owned business at that early stage. For all the effort, advice and support he has given us, I am honoured and happy to say that Neil is our 2026 Employee Owner Of The Year!
