NSBRC Aspirations Survey - 2025

Each year The National Self Build & Renovation Centre produces a survey in partnership with the National Custom & Self Build Association (NaCSBA).

The 2025 survey marks our fifth edition and was completed by 508 people. This data provides a detailed view of those planning to, or currently undertaking substantial homebuilding projects.

We asked almost exactly the same set of questions this year to better understand the motivations of homebuilders, as well as the barriers they are facing in the current market, building on our existing dataset from the 2024 survey.

We have produced a helpful infographic, which summarises the key findings on what matters to self-builders and home improvers in 2025.

You can find information on last year's survey here.

In this blog, I will be asking five of The NSBRC’s team members various questions about their careers and the rewards they get from them, their journey to get to where they are now, the advice they would give to younger individuals and what they would be doing if they weren’t working in the job titles they have now.
