Mainmark | Is Your Home at Risk of Summer Subsidence?

Picture1

Warm, dry summers can increase the risk of subsidence, particularly for new builds and renovation projects built on clay-rich soils. As the ground loses moisture, it can shrink and cause foundations to shift, leading to cracks in walls, sticking doors, or uneven floors. Trees and large shrubs can worsen the issue by drawing water from the soil, while inconsistent rainfall can further destabilise the ground.

Understanding these seasonal risks early allows homeowners and developers to take preventative steps and protect long-term property value.
