Heating a whole house with Herschel Infrared combined with solar and battery
Chris and Catherine Stonehewer-Newbold have renovated their home, including heating to replace their inefficient system. They wanted to avoid gas/oil due to the negative environmental impact and ruled out an ASHP for a number of reasons including high upfront capital cost and complexity to install.
Given their south-facing roof, they decided to install solar panels and combined these with Herschel Infrared heating Select XLS panels, solar battery storage and an efficient hot water tank solution – creating a low cost, electric home. “It’s working so well I can’t really put it into words, it’s such a lovely heat and has been 101% successful.”
Their full video testimonial can be seen on the video link here.

Structural Timber Association
Off-site manufactured structural timber systems can offer genuine cost, programme and performance assurances for self builders, especially when backed by STA Assure, the Structural Timber Association (STA) Membership and Quality Standards Scheme.
As the largest UK trade association within the structural timber sector, there are a host of reasons why construction professionals and self builders should choose one of its members.
STA Assure is designed to benefit both members and their clients by promoting the differing accreditations and quality standards held by individual STA member companies. This scheme offers reassurances to the construction community that its members meet or even exceed current legislation and regulatory requirements.
