Since 2009 ACA have been helping self-builders design and build their dream homes. As an RIBA Chartered Practice, we have worked on over 460 projects across the UK, from small extensions, one-off homes and large housing developments.
Our designs are all low energy and built around the Fabric first principles. We use modern methods of construction such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF). We are also Certified Passive House Designers.
Based in Fife and Swindon, our gifted team of over 20 is led by Architect and self-build expert Allan Corfield. As well as running ACA, Allan also speaks and writes for Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine – giving talks across the UK on low-energy homes.
ACA will guide you through the entire process, from the initial design to obtaining Planning & Building Regs approval and then onto the site. We offer a free initial consultation and plot review service before providing a fixed-cost Fee Proposal.
What differentiates ACA from other Architectural practices is our commitment to education. Over the past six years through our blog, we have helped educate and support thousands of soon-to-be self-builders. We also regularly organise Self Build seminars at the NSBRC.
ACA has been shortlisted for numerous awards, including best Architect, best eco home and recently, one of our homes was awarded Best SIPS Home at the BuildIt Awards.
In 2020, to continue to support our clients, Allan Corfield created AC Structures. ACS is a leading engineering firm, providing engineering support for both ACA’s and external clients. The team of 5 currently works with various architects, developers and individual Self Build clients.
Our Swindon office at the NSBRC is led by Jenny Chandela, who regularly delivers talks at various events at the centre. ACA and ACS teams are delighted to be exhibiting at the NSBRC and will be on hand at stand 63 to answer any questions and demo our state-of-the-art Virtual Reality system.
