Join us next week for a one-off, free, online panel discussion, ahead of this month’s National Self Build & Renovation Show.

This one-hour informal discussion is the first of a series of special one-off events as we celebrate 15 years of the NSBRC. We believe it will prove an insightful session, that we hope you will find helpful for your project. Our panel will share their views and will be delighted to tackle any thoughts and questions you have during the session.

Thursday 20th January – 7pm to 8pm.

This event must be booked in advance.

Join our highly-experienced expert panel for our special, online event, as we discuss two of the key topics affecting self builders in 2022; Materials & Energy.

Materials: We’ll discuss the availability and rising costs of materials in the UK and what budget contingency is appropriate for a self-builder in 2022

Energy: Will we see rising costs continue and how can self builders mitigate against this.

Our expert panel includes:

Andrew Baddeley-Chappell – CEO, National Custom & Self Build Association

Andrew Baddeley-Chappell is the CEO of the National Custom & Self Build Association, the Chair of the Bank of England Residential Property Forum, and a self-employed consultant for Homanity.

Andrew is a chartered accountant and before joining NaCSBA headed up the mortgage and savings policy team at Nationwide Building Society where he sponsored the Lenders Project looking to improve energy costs in mortgage calculations.  Andrew jointly authored the report - Community led housing and retail mortgage lending: building the partnership.

David Hilton - Project Management and Heat & Energy

David is an authority in sustainable building and energy efficiency with extensive knowledge in building fabrics, heating systems, heat recovery ventilation, renewables and conventional heating systems.
David has a Masters degree in Sustainable Architecture, is a fully qualified renewables, Gassafe installer, trainer and has 30 years experience in the industry.

Her business, which she runs together with her husband, offers a full Design & Build service using products that are natural, environmentally friendly, and energy efficient.

Paul Newman – Director, Potton

After completing his education with the award of a PhD from Imperial College, Paul spent a short spell as a University lecturer and then moved in the timber and construction industries where he has remained for nearly thirty years.

Paul sat on the Technical Committee of the Structural Timber Association for longer than he cares to remember and was Chair of that committee, and a board member of the STA, for several years. Paul has worked for different timber building system businesses within the Kingspan group since starting as Technical Director in 2007 and has, for several years now, been the business unit director for Potton.
