Hosted by BBC News Presenter, Martine Croxall, the team heard keynote talks including from Joe Garner, former CEO of Nationwide Building Society, who shared insights into crisis management, putting trust in colleagues and also the value of exercise in wellbeing, reminding us to look after ourselves so we can look after others.
A wealth of experts provided workshops and discussion on how employee owned businesses can deliver ‘good EO’, contributing towards a healthier, more diverse, greener and more innovative economy.
A busy first day was followed by a Celebration Dinner, which included the UK Employee Ownership Awards. This was particularly exciting for our team as our managing director, Harvey Fremlin, was shortlisted – alongside five other UK employee-owners – in the category of ‘Employee Owner of the Year’. It wasn’t the result we all wanted for Harvey – but we are very proud that he – and our team – were recognised alongside some much larger organisations and the team celebrated into the night, nonetheless!
The conference was the perfect opportunity to refresh our focus on employee-ownership, ahead of an important milestone in 2024, during which we will be celebrating a decade of being owned by our employees.
