In this free online session we look at the key reasons to undertake a self build project and help you understand the key questions anyone interested in self-building should be asking as they undertake their research.

7:00 - 7:30 – Harvey Fremlin - Welcome & overview of our 2024 customer aspirations survey - why our visitors are undertaking projects, what their main motivations are and barriers they are faced with.
followed by a short introduction to Self Build principles – finding a plot, different building systems, planning and building control.
7:30 - 7:50 – Tom McSherry, BuildStore - How to Fund a Project – Tom explains the methods of raising finance and the importance of setting a budget and controlling costs throughout the project.
7:50 - 8:10 – Jenny Chandela, AC Architects - Design Principles – Jenny looks at how you can achieve the best design for your dream home, whether it's finding a plan to suit your family's changing needs or how you can maximise a plots potential!
8:10 - 8:30 – Andrew Jones – VAT Reclaims – Under VAT Notice 431, any new dwellings are entitled to Zero VAT on materials and labour. Know how to maximise your claim.
8:30 - 9:00 – Q&A with tonight’s panel.
