JACKON is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of polystyrene building products, all of which are of great interest to the self-build community. This is because of the positive contribution they can make in the construction of highly energy-efficient buildings with very low energy inputs required for heating or cooling – and also because of their ease of use.
The JACKON systems integrate insulation materials into the concrete formwork, which totally changes and modernises the way houses are constructed.
As well as being easier and quicker to build, an ICF house provides massive advantages during the life of a building. These include: dramatically improved insulation and therefore reduced expenditure on heating and cooling; excellent acoustic performance; fire resistance; enhanced resilience to flood, extreme weather and seismic activity; rot and vermin resistance; minimal maintenance requirement; mortgage, insurance and planning acceptance.
There are two separate systems, which can be used together for the best results.
JACKON’s THERMOMUR is a wall system, manufactured from expanded polystyrene (EPS) and comprises a range of robust pre-formed blocks with a hollow core, which is filled with a concrete pour during construction.
JACKODUR ATLAS is an extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation and formwork system providing efficient thermal insulation systems for floor slabs, which is ideal for constructing the foundations of an energy-efficient home. It is in the form of an interlocking system, eliminating thermal bridges and with stable compressive strength properties. Supplied cut to size, rapid and problem-free construction is assured.
The JACKON construction systems are market leaders in Scandinavia with over 30 years’ experience building homes to withstand the Nordic winters. The product range meets Passivhaus standards and also has BBA accreditation for the UK market.
Also using JACKON’s expertise in polystyrene manufacturing, the company is able to offer its JACKOBOARD range of construction backer boards for tiling and wetroom shower elements. This range is now a market leader in the UK on account of its very comprehensive range, high quality and competitive pricing. The boards are lightweight, waterproof and incredibly versatile. This range is also BBA accredited and there is a RIBA approved CPD course to assist architects and specifiers.
